Materials needed:
Aluminum oxide TLC plate
95% Ethanol
Scissors
Pencil/Pen
Counting tubes/vials
MCA or SCA or Scaler with scintillation well
Procedure:
1. See General QC Procedure.
2. "Wet" plate with 1 drop ethanol. Spot sample on top of ethanol spot.
3. Develop immediately in ethanol, allowing the solvent to migrate to the ink spot/line at top of the plate.
4. Remove plate from solvent.
5. Cut plate at cut line above origin.
6. Count each section of the plate.
Counts:
Ethanol:
Top: Tagged radiopharmaceutical
Bottom: Free Tc-99m, hydrolyzed reduced Tc-99m
% tagged Tc-99m = (top counts)/(bottom counts + top counts) x 100

Materials needed:
Whatman 3MM strip
Ethyl Acetate
Scissors
Pencil/Pen
Counting tubes/vials
MCA or SCA or Scaler with scintillation well
Procedure:
1. See General QC Procedure. Spot the sample 1 cm from the end of strip.
2. To develop the strip, place it in ethyl acetate.
3. Allow the solvent to migrate to the ink spot/line at top of the strip.
4. Remove strip from solvent.
5. Cut strip at cut line above origin.
6. Count each section of the strip.
Counts:
Ethyl Acetate:
Top: Tagged radiopharmaceutical
Bottom: Free Tc-99m, hydrolyzed reduced Tc-99m
% tagged Tc-99m = (top counts)/(bottom counts + top counts) x 100
USP Minimum Acceptable Purities:
Sestamibi 90%
