                                                       www. valleynuclear.com

A CAREER NOT OF THE ORDINARY

Nuclear Pharmacy is a “refreshing” change from the retail or hospital setting.

Valley Nuclear Incorporated (VNI) in McAllen, Texas, is interviewing pharmacists who are interested in the field of Nuclear Medicine.

Who is VNI?  Valley Nuclear Incorporated is the Rio Grande Valley’s foremost Nuclear Pharmacy. Locally owned and operated, VNI has an impeccable reputation for providing quality nuclear medicine products and radiation safety services to Nuclear Cardiology and Hospital Nuclear Medicine Departments since 1991.  Our success is due largely in part to our brilliant team of employees who love where they work and love what they do.

What are the duties of a Nuclear Pharmacist?  As a VNI Nuclear Pharmacist your duties may include compounding and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals, quality control, inventory control, supervision and training of personnel, customer technical support, receiving customer orders via telephone, computer data entry, packaging products and delivery dispatch in accordance with D.O.T. regulations, placement of vendor orders, overseeing radiation safety procedures for VNI and its customers, assist with radioactive and biohazard waste disposal; and in addition, you may also be trained in the rapidly expanding field of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Drug Manufacturing including Cyclotron Operations and Chemistry.

How do I become a Nuclear Pharmacist?  Once hired by VNI, you will immediately begin your education in radiation safety, instrumentation, basic physics, chemistry and biology; while at the same time, you will work under the supervision of an experienced Nuclear Pharmacist.  A total of 700 hours of didactic and “in house training” must be successfully completed in order to receive the title of “Authorized User”, which enables a Licensed Pharmacist to legally practice Nuclear Pharmacy.

Is it safe to handle radioactive materials?  Yes indeed, because you will have extensive training in the proper radiation safety techniques of handling low level radioactive isotopes. You will learn more about this in the interview process, and you can speak with our pharmacists themselves.

Are you interested but a little apprehensive?  No problem, just call for a brief preliminary telephone consultation.   If we feel you’re a good candidate for the position of Nuclear Pharmacist, we’ll schedule you for an interview and perhaps a facility tour.  This might be the best decision of your career. You have nothing to loose except a few minutes of your time.
         What are the Minimum Qualifications?

ü        Texas Pharmacy Licensure
(or the ability to become licensed)
